Blog Action Day 2008 – Let’s Fight Poverty Together!
Today is Blog Action Day 2008 where thousands of bloggers are coming together to help generate awareness about poverty. Poverty isn’t just affecting third world countries, it’s at our back door as well. As we all know, our economy is in poor shape and those who were doing well just a year ago, could be living on the street.
Each and every person can make a difference and there is a wonderful list of 88 Ways to DO Something About Poverty Right Now. Some won’t cost you a dime, like #52 which I’ve done several times or go through your closet and bag up those clothes that either don’t fit or you don’t wear and donate them to a local charity. Not only does this clear the clutter, but it helps others.
Another option with Christmas right around the corner is to buy from businesses like Karito Kids, who help kids give back a portion of every purchase to charities through Plan USA.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s take action and fight poverty together!

cool. i did #52 as well (the hunger site?).
for my part, i usually turn to sites like freerice (rice donation), kiva (microfinance), and goodsearch (donation per search), as ways to help alleviate poverty online. i also put up their banners on my blog.

Thank you for mentioning Plan USA on your blog. The Karito Kids is a great way to help and we also have our Gifts of Hope Program for the Holidays.
These donations go for scholarships, textbooks, safe clean water,
farm animals (poultry) and vaccinations. Your donation goes to the most needy community for one of these projects.
Another great way to help
