IKEA is celebrating their four-year anniversary in Tempe, Arizona. If your birthday falls between November 14 - 17th, be sure to stop by and flash your ID to receive a SOVA twin size sheet set and a GOSA standard pillow. Free birthday value is $50! Sweet!

During this event, IKEA is also offering free breakfast until 10:30am and starting at 10am, the first 100 loyal customers will receive a random prize envelope with vouchers for free goodies. Prizes range from a free snack or free lunch to an IKEA Gift Card (value $.50 - 250).

I so wish my birthday fell in between those dates, but alas I do enjoy having a summer birthday…can’t have it all right?

When you think of a birthday freebie, I bet you’re thinking of the dessert and song that come after someone in your group has ratted you out and informed the host/hostess that it’s your birthday.

Times are chaining though and restaurants aren’t the only ones doling out birthday perks. Some of the goodies I’ve found are free car washes, free skiing, free comedy club tickets, free coffee, free meals, free toys, free rock climbing, free movies, free pet treats, discounts on shoes, clothing, house wares….ummm the list goes on and on, but I think you get the picture. There is something for just about everyone.

Keep in mind that most of these offers are valid for the birthday week, if not the birthday month so there is no reason to try to cram it all in to one day. 

It’s finding them that can be tricky. Most businesses now have websites though and if you have a bit of time on your hands, check to see if they have an email list or even a birthday club. You’ll find quite a few that offer a birthday freebie or discount. Most of these offers do require that you join their online email list so I do recommend establishing a separate email account to keep your main mailbox from overflowing with promotional announcements and additional discount coupons. Why not take advantage of these offers and be frugal when celebrating birthdays.

Not bad right? I’m actually missing a few that I got last year, but hey I’m not complaining. I’m still waiting for a free movie ticket though! The new one on the list that was a pleasant surprise - Gordon Biersch. One just opened in my neighborhood and I’ve been wanting to check it out.
