We had the party for my 7year old's birthday party, which was so funny to watch.
What worked: having only 6 kids in total; prepared with shower caps, garbage bags, sunglasses; lining the back yard with construction poly plastic sheet that covered the entire yard made for easy cleanup; lots of towels available for cleanup; lots of gooey food like canned spaghetti, baked beans; jello; spaghetti noodles, and chocolate pudding.; The chocolate pudding game where you feed each other from five feet away was the best! we had each kid answer 3 questions, and if they got an answer wrong, they got a chocolate whipping cream pie in the face (and of course they were guaranteed to get at last one question wrong); a sunny day and water hose to wash off the kids; eating lunch and birthday cake without using cutlery or hands.
What didn't work: This party was a lot more work than websites describe! It took a lot of control and time management, and patience to keep 6, 7r old boys from going completely out of control.; for games, make sure blindfolds fit or else you spend a lot of time adjusting, rather than playing.

It was a great party, but a lot of work. I would do it again, but a bit differently next time. I think I would have spent more time on the actual food fight rather than on games leading up to the food fight. It all is funny though on all the video we took:)
