Friday’s Featured Birthday Treat at Islands Restaurants
I’m thrilled to present the Islands Restaurants as my very first Friday’s Featured Birthday Treat segment! This very family friendly chain of restaurants has been one of my family’s favorites for a long time. They are located primarily in California and Arizona, but also have a location in Colorado, Hawaii and Nevada.
The Islands Restaurants are known for their “Island” decor and menu selection. They have delicious appetizers, yummy burgers, chicken sandwiches, soft tacos, soups, salads and more. We usually end up with their delicious nachos, hearty and tasty tortilla soup and my son loves to order a his burger “Hawaiian style” from the Gremmie menu.
Now for those of you familiar with the Islands Restaurants, you used to have to order the fresh cut fries on the side, but now they are now selling the burgers with the fries. YUM!
For kids they have a great Gremmie menu with some locations even offering a Kids Eat Free Night (see below for the locations/times). The offer is buy one adult meal and get up to two free kids meals.
The Islands Restaurants also offers a free birthday treat for those that join Tiki Link. When your birthday nears, you’ll receive an email wishing you a Happy Birthday and a coupon for a FREE dessert – either a slice of Kona Pie or Chocolate Lava (seen in picture). This offer is good during your birthday month. We love the Chocolate Lava!

For every $100 in gift cards purchased this holiday season, Islands will send you a $20 gift card to use in January 2009.

We love Islands — our faves are hula veggie burgers and the kids love the tiki tenders. fingers crossed.
Island Fish Tacos (my daughter says they are really good) and the Cabo Loco sounds good, too. I’d like to win because eating out is a nice way to get the kids to the table so that we can have a good family talk.

we always get the cheese fries when we go here. My daughter gets the soft taco’s vegie, not on the menu any more but they fix them for her, and I get the Big kahuna

Kona pie and pipeline burgers are great, and their fish tacos — superb. I also like the hamburger that is served with a slice of grilled pinapple. Would love to win. There are plenty of Islands here in Southern Califonria to enjoy.

Yum! It is a close tie between the MOA KAI and the TUNA WRAP! Would love to win this to take the kiddos and hubby out for a treat, Islands is very family friendly!!
China Coast and Yaki are my two favorites. I always have a hard time deciding which to get. I’d love to win this so I can get both, plus it’s my birthday today.

I love their endless batch of fries (so tasty!!) and the veggie hawaiian burger. There’s an Islands close to us and if I won, I’d take the family out as a special treat! With the poor economy, eating out is the first luxury to go!

Well, I’ll admit that if I won the gift card I’d be tempted to go to Islands #3 where I used to work 20 years ago when they first opened and place an order for some Big Hut nachos and a Firebird, just to see the confused expression on the face of the waiter or -tress when they can’t find those entries on the touchscreen ordering system! [I have to admit, I don't remember the old codes anymore myself: 96 & 57? Sigh...]
In the end, I’d almost certainly order a Hawaiian [which comes w/ pineapple thanks to ME & my single-handed efforts to get all my customers to get it w/ pineapple when it didn't come with it.. next step was to add BACON, which was also so successful that they started listing it as an option on the menu. Hi Reiko! Hi Tim! Still lovin' the food, wish I'd taken the offer of the 3rd key position instead of going off to school...]
Anyway, I still love Islands food, & still wish I could wear shorts & an aloha shirt as my work “uniform” and get to go to work at a place with such a great atmosphere everyday!
Oops! I forgot to add: “…and an order of onion rings, which they declined my suggestion to add to menu back then, & which I see they finally did, or maybe a slice of Kona pie [back in my day, the only dessert option was a chocolate shake from the shake machine!
