Share Something Sweet and Help Feed the Hungry

Share Something Sweet

Did you know that 1 out of 6 children in America will worry about when their next meal will come? If you do the math, that’s more than 12 million children. At one point or another, we’ve all experienced a growling tummy which is usually fed quickly, but with these children, it’s a hunger pain that won’t go away until they get food and they don’t know when they will get their next meal. With limited access to nutritious foods, these children could face lifelong consequences such as weaker immune systems, stomachaches, headaches, colds, ear infections, fatigue even behavioral difficulties.

It’s not too late to help make a difference though. Share Something Sweet is a partnership between chocolate company Ferrero and Share Our Strength, a leading hunger-relief organization. This partnership is in it’s second year and this year Ferrero has donated $150,000 to Share Our Strength and is giving others a chance to add to that donation. Right now, if you log on to Share Something Sweet and use it to “send something sweet” (that is, a customizable e-card), Ferrero will donate another $1 per e-card sent, up to $10,000. And for every person that joins the Ferrero Facebook page, “Ferrero Lovers Unite,” Ferrero will donate another $1 to Share Our Strength (up to $10,000).

I realize that some people aren’t into FaceBook, but sending an e-card takes mere seconds and costs you nothing. However, it does make a difference to a child at risk of hunger. Since I’m on online geek, I did both and was done in just a few minutes.

While you’re visiting Share Something Sweet be sure to check out the Chocolate Personality Quiz. I did – want to see mine?

If you’d like to do more for these children, please visit Share Our Strength. There are several ways to give to this worthy cause.

Happy Holidays!
