It’s not often that I get a chance to indulge myself with a good “girly” movie, but this weekend I’ll be front and center for The Women which is bursting with an all-star cast featuring  Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cloris Leachman, Bette Midler and Candice Bergen.

Based on the 1939 classic, this comedic and witty remake takes an emotional look at the power of female friendships and what happens when a friend is betrayed.

As an added bonus, Dove partnered with film director Diane English to create The Women Behind “The Women”, a behind the scenes look with 16-year-old Cammy Nelson.

The short film encourages women to challenge today’s beauty stereotypes, celebrates the opportunities for women to empower one another and explores the diverse definitions of beauty, shared through interviews with some of the cast and crew of The Women. The Women Behind “The Women” is available exclusively on Dove.com.

In 2004, Dove created the Campaign for Real Beauty. Having a 14-year-old daughter myself that is faced with today’s stereotypes of beauty, this is a resource well worth checking out.
